Dearest members of the Ton,
I am again gracing you with my wonderful presence, bringing you the latest tea straight from PAADC’s HQ.
I remain your trusted gossip friend and reliable informant; Lord Victor Whistledown of House PAADC. First of his name. Courier of Gossips. Two ears on my head, two thousand on the street.
How have you been?
The weather these past few days has been crazy. One minute it's windy (weather for two 👉👈), the next, it’s sunny (weather for pool 🏊).
The weather is not giving summer at alll. It's giving summer-assault. 😂
Did you know that August 22nd was World Jollof Rice Day? A celebration of one of Africa's most popular and controversial dishes. A festival of rice, tomatoes, pepper, and spices that makes all the difference. An exquisite showcase of delicate skill handed down from one generation to another.
Jollof Rice is one of Nigeria’s most staple meals. So on World Jollof Rice Day, I did some digging and learned some interesting things I want to share.
Here are some interesting facts about Jollof Rice:
It is not originally a Nigerian dish: Yes. You read that right, don’t argue with your keyboard. Come closer.
The history of Jollof rice can be traced to the Jolof Empire, a large West African state from the 12th century. Today, the Jolof Empire is a combination of Senegal, Mali, Gambia, and Mauritania.
Nigerian Jollof is
NOTthe best: This shouldn't be up for discussion but here we are. There's no jollof rice as flavourful, dynamic, and thrilling to the taste buds as Nigerian Jollof rice. Quote me anywhere!Burial Jollof >>> Other Jollofs: I can’t explain how I know but iykyk. Maybe because it's a celebration of life or someone has gone to heaven; but the taste of burial Jollof is just… celestial!
Before you start salivating, I know one thing that’s unarguably 🌚 sweeter than Nigerian Jollof.
PAADC 8.0 MERCH!
Since the beginning of this PAADC year, I’ve been shouting “Merch is coming, merch is coming soon”, sounding like a broken record. In the last two newsletters, I also told you to save your coins and even gave you tips on how to make QUICK MONEY. 🤑
Well, I hope you listened and took my advice because the designs ate like maddd!
They say seeing is believing abi? Today I’ll let you judge.
Ladies and Mentlegens!
Breathe in... Breathe out...

I know you want to but don’t thank me. Instead, when you get your merch, post a picture with it, and tag PAADC on any of our social media handles. I want to see you and smile.
Word on the street is that PAADC’s merch is now a love language.
You know what that means? You can’t buy just for yourself. Buy two, three, buy four the people you love—your family members, friends, significant other, crush, and side pieces. 🤭
You can’t be a member of this Ton and not buy merch, o wrong nau.
Oh, by the way, the discount I promised y’all is closed now. Few people grabbed the opportunity to pre-order merch items at awoof prices.
If you missed out on this, don’t worry, PAADC still got something for you. You can get ₦500 off all t-shirt orders from now till October 6th.
If you want more discounts, I have one piece of advice for you: Join our WhatsApp community. Our head of publicity has discount vouchers to share with community members, I don’t know how or when they plan to share it, but I know that if you’re there, you’ll eat goooood.
Speaking of eating good,
Nexus by PAADC is back!!!
In the last newsletter, I mentioned that PAADC will be bringing an industry expert to speak to us on the topic: Navigating Remote Work: Opportunities and Management.
The Nexus was held last Saturday on X spaces and it was an enlightening session. Our guest speaker, Omotola Eunice Omotayo, a community manager at Outreachy and a maestro in her craft, unveiled lots of secrets to getting and managing remote opportunities. See her bio below.
If you missed the last Nexus, I have good and bad news. The bad news is there’s no recording. 🙁 The good news is there’ll be another one. 🤭
Speaking of things you shouldn’t miss…
The Grand Finale!
—it’s Near!!
There are only two things I look forward to every year: my birthday and PAADC’s Grand Finale. If you have attended before you’d understand but let me share a few experiences from last year with you:
One of our sponsors approached Deolu, a videographer, to cover an event they were planning. Big deal, yeah?
Timilehin got the idea to start building something after seeing the presentations at the Grand Finale.
I also know two people who connected at the Grand Finale. Today, that connection has blossomed into one of the most beautiful relationships I know.
For me, it was the food, I can’t lie. It was so good, I still keep the plate as a souvenir.
What’s the lesson in all of these?
There’s something for everybody YOU at the Grand Finale.
Just be there! It’s certain you won’t return the same.
There’s just so much that you miss out on if you don’t attend the Grand Finale. From the amazing pitches to experienced judges, sponsors’ merch items, entertainment activities, networking opportunities, and of course my favorite—THE ITEM 7.
The Grand Finale is a few months from now. I’m telling you ahead so you tell me that “something came up and I won’t be able to attend.”
We’ll fight!
I’ll stop here for today and I need to find some core Nigerian Jollof. If you know of any wedding happening this weekend, reply to this letter, let’s hang out.
If not, see you in my next newsletter the WhatsApp community.
Remember to start planning for the Grand Finale. Trust me it’s an event you don’t want to miss.
That’s all for today dearest members of the Ton, till we cross paths again.
I remain your favorite, Lord Victor Whistledown of House PAADC.
See you soon. ✌🏽
